Search Engine Optimization Strategy

Search engine optimization or SEO as it is known for short, is simply a term that describes a number of ways you can get your website URL listed highly in the each engines. The closer to number one they are on the search engine page ranking pages, the more money you will make.

On Page Optimization

On page optimization entails putting keywords into your site content.  All copy should be optimized, including your copy titles and internet page titles. You should also put at tags on all of your images and make your navigational titles keywords as well.  On page optimization can account for 15% of what is configured by search engine spiders to be your ultimate search engine ranking.

Article Marketing

Another SEO tactic is article marketing. You write articles that contain a single keyword or keyword phrase focus and then post them in an ezine or article directory that allows you to post a link back to your website.

This provides an automatic link back to your site that is picked up by the search engines. This can substantially boost your traffic but usually the effect is temporary.

Linking to Authority Sites

Authority sites are ones that are big, trusted and recognized as having high traffic by the search engines. If Google sees you are linked to a trusted site then your ranking of your site is often boosted. Many forums, article directories and high level site directories like DMOZ are recognized as authority trusted sites by Google. Wikipedia, government or educational sites are also held in high esteem by Google…

Link Baiting

This is a slightly risky technique because Google can see it as spamming. Link baiting is an SEO technique that involves cramming keywords into text or buying links in bulk in order to attract as many people as possible to your site. These are the valued one way links. The more you have the better, unless Google thinks you have somehow not come by those links honorably.

The best way to attract links to your site is to become an authority site. This entails posting an article of some value on the site. For instance if you had a site about cupcakes you would add a lot of value to it by adding a long, great article called “101 Mistakes That People Make in the Cupcake Business.”  An article like this could take a while to write but it would be worth it in the long run.

Social Media Marketing

Social media refers to sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. You can use these tools to market yourself as long as you do it subtly and as a recognizable authority.
The value of social media marketing is that it can help your customers connect with you and also get to know you.

Make sure you provide quality content or your friends and followers will be able to tell that you are just in it for the money.  You can even be kicked off facebook for using it as a marketing tool if you are too spammy and brash about it.

Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is about getting others to spread your message for you. If they follow you on social platforms, bookmark you and link to you then your viral strategy is working.  Other ways of making your message “go viral” are to create video productions for YouTube, giving away free informational products and holding contests.

Even if you use just one of the tactics above your business will improve. No single strategy will make a big difference. The best approach would be to use as many strategies as possible to help propel your site URL to the top of the search engine pages.
